I am ready to start!!!! Yes my basic benchwork is complete and I'm ready to lay track! I would like opinions on glueing down cork roadbed. My benchwork is 3/4 exterior plywood with 2" blue foam glued to the top. I need suggestions of type of glue to use. Also I read somewhere that one should always layout their curves first. Suggestions and advice VERY welcome.

I have always used liquid nails, which is a latex based glue that comes in a tube like caulk. It seems to hold very well, I have sections that have been glued down for two years now and they are still holding. I can't help you with laying the curves first, I have always just started laying cork bed over my center lines I layed out on foamboard. I never seemed to have a problem with it but maybe i'm just lucky

I've never tried to glue down cork roadbed, but I have tacked it down to Homasote and directly to plywood. Liquid Nails is probably the best glue to use, since it won't melt the blueboard. You might also try the Foam Tack Glue from Woodland Scenices (#1444). It works extremely well, and is somewhat thinner than Liquid Nails, though it is more expensive.

As far as where to start, I would recommend starting with turnouts first, especially any place where you have two or more together. This is the place where your trackwork is going to be the most finicky, and you want to get it right the first time.
