    Wow! look at that ballast profile! Your track looks very nice, excellent rusty rails and that ballast profile is just fantastic! :D

    Thanks Robert, Alan and Richard for your nice comments.
    Richard there is no secret about the balasting at all.
    I use a mixture of light grey and brown balast.
    On the main 2 parts of light grey 1 part of brown, on sidings and yards 1 part of light grey and 2 parts of brown.
    After the usual balasting method I weather the balast with acrylic paints thinned with a lot of water.
    I don't weather the balast equal,, some places are weatherd twice other places are not weathered at all, to reassemble newly repaired balast.

    On my last layout, I tried a section using a mix of two different ballast colors, but it did not look right, it had a sort of speckled look! But you seem to have mastered the look of very prototypical ballast. Very well done. I must try again with my new trackage ;)
