Here are two CNW-Rock Island boxcars. They are in the same number series so I presume they are intended to be the same type car. I am not sure of the car type but here is a prototype photo.

This is an old MDC Roundhouse car. I had to add the MT trucks.

This is the same series car by Fox valley Models:

FVM probably has the edge on the lettering. Notice the small CNW logo in the upper right corner of the MDC car. I like them both. I hope to make some improvements by weathering.

    Nice cars, Flash.

I like the old MDC Roundhose kit cars. I have a bunch of them. There used to be an older gentleman that owned a hobby shop near here before he passed away that had hundreds of them in stock. Every time I went to his store I used to pick up a couple for $6-7 apiece.

I have a couple of the blue Route Rock cars and one of the white ones, still with Rock reporting marks. I also have several Missouri Pacific cars and a few other roads.

When MDC Roundhouse was sold out, my other LHS put all of the MDC kits they had on clearance for $5 for decorateds and $3 for undecorateds. I bought some of the decorateds and cleaned out the undecorated box cars. I have about a dozen of the undecorateds in my future projects queue.

I don't have any of the FVM cars yet, but based on what others have said I did reserve the new run of Route Rock box cars that have been announced. I am thinking about snagging one or two of the Cotton Belt box cars .
