Hey Guys, I just found out recently that the Shasta Cascade Rail Preservation Society will be bringing Sacramento Valley & Eastern engine No.2 a Baldwin 2-6-2T home this weekend hopefully. The SV&E was a railroad that ran up the Pit River and served copper mines in what was Shasta Counties Copper Belt, but the right of way and the "Copper Belt" were put under water by the construction of Shasta Dam and the formation of Shasta Lake. The locomotive will be put on display at a RV resort a few miles north of Redding with some other equipment I believe. More info can be found here at the SCRPS website.
YoHo, No, this is just a regular RV Resort next to I-5 at a place called Mountain Gate just a few miles south of Shasta Lake. The place you're thinking of is a few miles south of Dunsmuir, which is to the north by about 45 minutes. The place in Dunsmuir does have a locomotive, a Willamette Shay that was MedCo's No. 7. No. 7 could use a little help though from what I could see last time I was there.
