What forced the ATSF to close their Cleburne,Texas shops up? I was a little too young to hear when it happened.Where did they move it to?

I heard the shops were closed shortly after they finished over-hauling the #1218 articulated. The shop wasn't moved, just closed I think in the late 70's.

What was the 1218? A big steam engine for the ATSF? I remeber seeing the service tracks with the blue and yellow with gray Santa Fe on the sides back in the late 80's. Now Gunderson runs a refub shop now.

The 1218 was a Norfolk & Western articulated steam locomotive restored for steam excursions on the Norfolk Southern. It was a very popular excursion locomotive and many were disappointed when it was taken out of service. I believe it is now on the grounds of the Virginia RR Museum in Roanoke, partially disassembled. Right Watash?
