The railroad has begun humping railcars on four of its seven railyard track groups, while continuing to flat switch on the remaining groups using one CLASSMASTER Process Control System. “This represents the latest innovation from Trainyard Tech, LLC, creators of OSX Technology, switch and track occupancy detection using wheel detectors,” the company said. “OSX Technology also provides valuable yard operation information such as speed, distance and acceleration—vital for maintaining safe separation between railcars.” Trainyard Tech’s system also employs TyTReporter, described as “a sophisticated railyard reporting tool customizable by the user to simplify troubleshooting and analyze yard trends by quickly drilling down to individual railcars or yard devices.
