I installed the new "Code 55" wheels from Athearn. The results have been disastrous. The loco now spends most of its time waiting to be re-railed. The problem seems to be that the front drivers do not like curves at all. Particularity curves (even very slight curves) leading to or from a turnout. My layout has 13.75" minimum radius curves, and most are larger than that. I wonder if any other members have had experience with the new wheels?
My first Challenger (from first run) did the same thing. In the end, removing the front traction tires resolved it. I also noted no loss of traction btw.
Phil - I wondered about those traction tires. I have tried everything short pf replacing all of my track! Will try the traction tire trick.
