Has anyone changed out the trucks on the Centralia/Intermountain Passenger cars? Mine don't seem to run straight down the track, actually the trucks are not square, side to side, and the wheels drop out.
Not to happy with the MTL 1017 but they seem to work. The cars are glued together so you cannot get to the inside of the car, and use the MTL parts. Any suggestions?

    Regards

You have the older cars. Yes, the trucks stink, but are repairable.

I took a different route and replaced the trucks with MicroTrains.

All of the new CCS cars come with MT trucks installed. They work great!

The trucks are in three pieces... a center bolster and two sideframes that are pinned to the bolster. Unscrew the trucks from the car and place them on a piece of track. You'll be able to tell if the sideframes are crooked on the bolster. If they are off, simply twist them into alignment. If the wheelsets are still falling out after the sideframes are aligned, then make sure the sideframes are driven completely into the bolster by giving them a squeeze.

They frequently twisted during shipping. You can use a drop of superglue as security to keeping the sideframes in place after they are aligned, but in normal layout use they will not move again on their own.
