Can I test my lighted signals?

I've stumbled across a dozen ModelPower 3-color signals that I would love to check out...but never have (had them for like 3 years now). Does anyone know if I can do this with a AA battery?

There are four wires that extend from the base; black, yellow, red, and green. I'm guessing the black would be the ground and the other 3 wires go to their respective colored lights.

Am I risking blowing the bulb with a 1.5V?

About all you'll risk is not having enough voltage to light the bulb, but I would suspect you will get a faint glow. Enough to check they are ok.

You have the colour code spot on. :)

Much better to start with a lower voltage and work your way up.... kinda' hard to do the reverse once you've killed it.

I am thinking that those signals were rated as "accessories" and able to handle 12-16 volts.
