im having a problem with the caboose hobbies ground throws. the problem is when i turn it side to side, it pushes the track, the part that needs to move but when u push it all the way, it moves the track a little. is that normal for that to happen when in cork roadbed without balasting? if not is there a way to fix the problem?
I had the same problem with the rigid version of their ground throw. When I questioned their rep at Trainfest a couple of years ago, he said to use the sprung version. Problem solved. (I don't know why they make the rigid version.)
I've used quite a few of their ground throws. Primarily with Peco switches. When completely thrown to either side, their will be a slight amount of pressure on the switch points. Holds them snugly against the outside rail for good electrical contact. I've seen them move the rail a little. But should not deform it. Some times when they seem to move the track, I've found that they aren't quite centered. Try checking this possibility. Have the lever on the Caboose ground throw sticking exactly straight up. Are the switch point rails equally centered between the rails? Or slightly closer to one side than the other? Boxcab E50
I always center mine, then tack then in with track nails. Once everything is sued a bit I glue it in and leave the nails.
i tried getting it as centered as possible and its darn dear impossible to get the throw in the center position and it is glued down. that solved the problem for the ground throw moving but the swich still moves a bit. it is not glued down yet. when i do im goint to use yellow glue then the balasting method. then will the track stop moveing?
I just found several packages. The style I use is the #206-S. "S" indicates the spring type ground throw. Boxcab E50
