New project in the early phases. Had to kill a C424 and a C628 shell for parts. Still have a ways to go, but thought I would share the progress thus far. Hope this works, never posted pics here before. Edit note: John, corrected the image link (you had "http://" twice) and moved this to the N Scale Forum - Gary. [ 10. Looking good, John! Post up the rest of the images - I'd like to see how you are progressing. Ya gotta love a kitbash!
Thanks, I started out thinking that it would just be an easy task of grafting on the new radiator section. Boy was I wrong. Since I model early BN, I had to have a phase II to paint in SP&S. It took 4 cuts, and the cab is from the C628, as is the modified sill. I still need to make the steps and do handrails, along with a little putty where I got stupid with the Xacto and saw.
Have you photo-documented the steps? I'm a BN modeller as well and at least one SP&S unit was considered, as well a BN, and have found this sort of thing is of interest to others. I still get the odd email from fellow modellers regarding some of the projects I have documented (to date!).
John- The reason your second try didn't take, is that you added a space between the first and http, then also a space between jpg and . Omit the spaces. Boxcab E50
Looks good, as far as I can tell from the pics. I bought a C424 last year so I could do the same thing (except mine will be hi-nose). I've been waiting for Atlas to get the C628 shells in - are they in yet?
What road? You mean there are roads other than SP&S One truck is gray since I bought the C424 in pretty sad shape. The truck is actually damaged and I am looking for a replacement. The C628 donor shell came from a unit I bought on Ebay. Somehow, theoriginal shell was damaged and he got a new shell from Atlas. I got both in the auction and utilized the damaged shell for this project. Atlas doesn't have stock yet, I tried.
