Does anyone know if the BNSF (Santa Fe) C40-8W's are to stay in the Santa Fe red & silver warbonnet livery or will the 'Santa Fe' be replaced by 'BNSF'? We saw odd ones with BNSF on the flanks, but was this after overhaul/repaint, or will they all be so treated. When repaints are needed will they be painted in Heritage 1 or II? Indeed, have any already been done? Are they classed as high- or medium horsepower? Questions, questions . . . . but all the attention is on C44's these days ------------------ Alan www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com http://eurogallery.homestead.com
I have heard that H2 will be used on the high horsepower units, somthing like the SF Super Fleet, dash 9s, SD70s ect. Most of the older and smaller units are repainted in H1. Two examples: last June BNSF repainted a GP9 #1685 in H1, and just before that they repainted a GP39M in H1. I think both units look sharp, they remind me of the GN days! That is what I have learned looking for prototypes for my N scale roster.
Thanks. I heard that too, but I am not sure what is 'high horsepower' these days! Not long ago, 3,000hp was considered high But surely the 4,000hp C40-8W's will be classed high hp and be in HII, but what about the B40-8W's, and the B40-8's? I guess we will have to wait and see. ------------------ Alan www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com http://eurogallery.homestead.com
