I've got a print I bought from the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Ga years ago of the front end of a GG1. I've had it rolled up for a long time and I'd like to build a frame for it. I want to paint the frame a good pensy color. However, it doesn't have to be a perfect match. I thought someone may know of a close(ish) match, from painting facia or part of the train room. I don't really have anything I can use as a paint sample to get matched at the paint counter. Even a page from a magazine could work if there was a large enough section of green (or even maroon).

Sorry for the delay... I just wandered in.

I've been seeking a paint mix for DGLE (Dark Green Locomotive Enamel) as well. I have an official "color drift card" as an example.

Unfortunately, Home Depot's computer scanners think the drift card is black. Wrong!

Two people have told me that they have had great success with a Benjamin Moore paint mix from True Value. Unfortunately, both True Value's near me have removed their color scanners for paint matching. And the two that had the paint do not have the mix formula!

That's a shame they have their scanner set for so limited a range. I guess for household applications they can get by with it. They were able to match Floquil GN Big Sky Blue that I used for painting the walls of my train room.

You definitely cannot trust their scanner. We tried to match some household interior paint about a year ago. What they mixed, was so far off, we wondered what planet they were on.

So my HO scale buddy loves the Espee Lark train and wants to paint the bedroom two-tone grey. He goes to Lowe's and asks for two diffrent grey paints and wants to see the paint cards to match. The assistant there says, "You mean like Espee Lark dark grey and Lark light grey?" My friend was astonished! He said that was correct. "How did you know that I wanted those colors?" The assistant said, "Oh, we get that request every few months. The Daylight colors are harder to match."

So you never know. Maybe just ask for Brunswick green.
