My friend and neighbor Gary moved the layout to a storage unit today. The apartment we found couple weeks ago had some extra fees so it isn't going to work for us. We are going to stay in a hotel with kitchen until we find a new place. Joe Joe
We only have a cabinet, two recliners, one chair and kitchen stuff to move next Saturday. All of the other rooms are finished. It's been a very busy couple of weeks. Really glad it's almost over. Joe
Hope the move is winding down there sir! The train will be going through the wall eventually !! In viewing distance of the recliner of course
During my down time on the N scale layout I'm going to draw plans for a DCC HO layout that will go on top of the overhead valence. It's going to be 16 inches wide and about 28 feet long U shaped time saver layout with a Wye at one end and turntable on the other. I've been looking for 2-6-0 and 2-8-0 steam locomotives one eBay to get an idea on prices. Haven't decided on which Frisco location yet and have been looking at track schematics to make that decision. Also going to post more photos of the International Space Station in the next few days. Joe
Yes HO, I have about 30 railcars and a 44 ton locomotive but most of them don't fit in the mid 1920s time era so will have to buy some. Accurail makes some nice outside braced boxcars that I've had my eyes on. Joe
I worked on the steel trestle towers this evening cutting off sprues and injection tabs. There were 28 cut points on each tapered support and 30 on each cross brace support along with a lot of flash, altogether eight tower pieces. Still need to file each cut to blend. Joe
I've decided to model Ft Scott KS on my HO Time Saver layout that goes on top of the overhead valence. It will be U shaped 16 inches wide and about 28 feet long. Ft Scott has a nice yard and several interesting industries, the yard will have to be reduced a little bit. There is a turntable near the yard and will install a Wye at the other end of layout. Joe
I will scratch build the Ft Scott Depot like most of the other industries and depots on my layout. Looks like the dome will be a challenge to get it right though. Have to think about it some. Edit: The time era will be in the 1920"s. Joe
Looks like an interesting project Joe.... I found some pictures of the Depot but they were 3/4 views like what you posted. Do you have a more straight on shot of the dome and anything with more precise dimensions. Not sure if I could do anything with the dome to help. Let me know if you want me to try, Sumner
Sumner, I don't have any dimensions at this time but will definitely try to find some on frisco.org later this afternoon and let you know. Will also try to find more photos. Joe
A friend on the Frisco website gave me a link to the Frisco Ft Scott Depot floor plans. It looks like the dome is about 25 feet square and about 25 feet tall. This is pretty much a guess looking at the plans and photos. Joe
Would one of the administrators please move the post's referring to Ft Scott to my new thread titled Frisco Ft. Scott and Beyond Layout. Your help is greatly appreciated!!! Joe
Last night I finished building the two steel trestle towers, they are 7.75 inches tall and will have to be shortened to about 4 or 5 inches when I install them on module 08. They are ready to have the main span installed which will do this early afternoon. Have a couple of chores to do first. After the trestle will post more photos of the Space Station on my other thread. Joe
This afternoon I painted the steel trestle primer red and will put it all together when I'm ready to install on module 08. Joe
I received a package this afternoon with a lot of great stuff, several turnouts, track, bridges and several packages of neat items. Thank you Richard. Joe
