Here's the link to Condren Rails about the Frisco Arkansas River Bridge. It's a very great article and has all of the information you need to know about the bridge. https://condrenrails.com/FSVB/Bridges/Frisco-Bridge.htm Joe
Yesterday's projects were to paint 28 feet of nylon string brown and then painted the barrel of the winches the same color. After that stuff dried I installed the string on the pulleys and counterbalances. Also installed the pier under the north tower and main span. I have the details to almost finish the bridge, still need to order the safety ladders and stairway. Here is a photo of the detail parts I did yesterday. Joe
Today's projects were installing the piers under the south tower, main span and the brown bridge. Then installed the winches, pulleys and counterbalances, after that I installed the cables. The bridge is as close to finishing as I can get less the safety ladders and stairway. Joe
I forgot to tell you that I still have to do touch up paint and handrails, after that will do some more feeder wires to prep for another video. Joe
Thank you guys for the compliments and likes!!! After I installed all of the cables only had a few scraps left, I estimated there is five feet of brown nylon string. In the photo below you can see the five inch mark on a 12 inch scale to get an idea of what was left. Now it's back to work on the coal trestle. Later this afternoon will start doing touch up paint on the bridge and install handrails on the towers. Joe
I have been working on the coal trestle this afternoon and evening. So far have built four bents and have installed them to a couple of balsa wood beams forming the trestle. Also cut the track ties between the bents for the coal to fall through. The Peco code 80 track in the photo is just sitting there, it's not glued on yet. There are five more bents to build and install to the trestle. Hopefully I will finish them tonight and have it ready for paint in the morning. Will use the same brown paint as the brown bridge and cables. While the paint dries the plan is to carve out the area of the trestle on the front of module 06. Joe
This afternoon I finished the coal trestle less handrails. I will install it on the layout on module 06 tonight. Joe
Thank you Vince!!! Today's projects are install the coal trestle and track, add feeder wires for the trestle. After that do some scenery on module 06 and maybe module 04 if I have time. If the above doesn't take long will install a turnout for the stock yard or oil depot on module 06. The stock yard and oil depot are interchangable to add variety when operating, they will be built on a thick piece of styrene cut the same size. I want to reserve Sunday to do touch up paint on the bridge, weather the coal trestle and anything I didn't get done today. Joe
The coal trestle looks great Joe! I like the sound of interchangeable scenes. Looking forward to seeing how that looks and works
Thank you Richard for your compliment!!! Yesterday I installed the coal trestle and track then installed some foam on modules 06 and 07. After that carved the foam, painted it brown and sifted some real dirt on both modules except for the flat areas. Cynthia said she would help me make trees, she is such a great wife, love her so much!!! Joe
