Day 47, The camera procedure shows complete blockage above the tracheotomy incision. They are going to change Cynthia's tracheotomy device to a smaller size and do another camera procedure sometime in the next couple of days. In the meantime we are going to do the cleaning and suctioning the tracheotomy while a nurse watches. Once they are comfortable with us doing a good job it will one more step towards going home. Joe
Boxcab, the blockage just affected her breathing, she is able to eat with no problems. She has a tracheotomy collar on to help with breathing. Joe
Just getting caught up on how things are going for Cynthia. Joe, I know it's rough but it WILL get better. Keep the faith! Prayers for you both.
Thank you guys for your thoughts and prayers!!! A doctor came by and said they would not have to do another camera procedure. The blockage wasn't as bad as they thought at first. This is great news, maybe things will start to pick up soon. Is that light at the end of the tunnel or a freight train getting ready to run us over? Haha Your support is greatly appreciated. Joe
Joe and Cynthia... My wife Jean and I cant even imagine what you two are going through... My wife and I pass along our prayers every day that this whole ordeal comes to excellent and blessed end for you both ASAP.
Day 48, Absolutely nothing happened today except the doctor came by and taking to Cynthia about why she can't speak. After a bit he said "I don't know what to do" threw up his hands and walked out. We are telling everyone that we are going home tomorrow whether they like it or not. Real tired of this kind of attitude. Joe
Wouldn't be the first time I knew of somebody getting really frustrated and just walking out!! My wife and I did it a few years back when she was getting the run-a-round after her knee replacement. Don't blame you one bit for just packing up and head home. Sorry you two are going thru this, should be easier than this....... Prayers, lot's o' prayers for ya'll.
WOWSERS !!! Thats just not very professional at all. Doctors can consult with each other and say crap like that behind closed doors to each other....NEVER in front of a patient !!
Of course we won't leave until we know that Cynthia will be safe at home. I'm just trying to light a fire so someone will do something. Also I was venting a bit. Joe
You have every right to vent. If that was actually said by a doctor, they are in need of some serious disciplining. No matter how frustrated from their own side, such was thoroughly unprofessional.
Day 49, The fire was lit, three doctors, two home services representatives and a speech therapist came by today and got the ball rolling on Cynthia going home possibly Friday. It could be later, they are waiting for her throat to heal a bit more so she has a fighting chance at home. Today is a good day, at least now we can see some progress. Joe
Sometimes a little boot dance wakes people up. Can't say I am impressed with their performance on this for the last week. Good luck!
Day 50 the big 5-0, One of the doctors just came by and said Cynthia is doing much better today and she may get to go home this weekend. This is very encouraging news, we are excited. Joe
