This is a little project I have been tinkering with over the last couple years, that I just had to finish. Dont know about you folks but I have so many unfinished projects that once in a while, I just need to finish something. Started this with an Athearn Blue Box (BB) 250 ton crane, modified a Roco boom to fit it, modified the BB crane and Roco sheaves to accept single cable pulleys so I could put 3 loops of pulleys and cable on the boom and crane, to help make it look a little more realistic, also did that to the 250 ton "purchase hook", I will tell you rigging this thing took 2 days, it is so hard to keep those cables in the pulleys they are supposed to be in.
The tender is a modified BB gondola. Came up with all the little details from my parts boxes. Used some xtra Tichy crane spreader bars and made some of my own out of styrene.
Painted both with Model Masters paints, decaled, and weathered with chalks and very thin weathering coats sprayed on. That Eagle head was on the prototype D-258.
Thanks for looking, lets have fun!

That is a fantastic piece of work, Tom. Just the cable work is worthy of admiration.
