I'm a DCC virgin so please be gentle with me! A short while ago I bought a NCE Power Cab and a few decoders for my N & HO collection which is great. The N Atlas locos shouldn't be too much of a problem as the boards just fit in but I have a Athearn Genesis GP15-1 which I bought a Soundtraxx Tsunami for and have installed the board as per instructions. It runs, but in reverse sense, I guess this means the motor leads are reversed, but the lights also operate the wrong way around. Does this mean when I correct the motor leads it will sort that out? If anybody is familiar with these boards the wires are secured with plastic keepers just pushed over the terminal. This does seem rather flakey, is there any reason they can't be soldered? I was thinking why would the manufacturer use this method rather than soldering? Would the heat affect the components? Sorry if all this stuff is basic but I'm on a steep learning curve!
Seasons Greetings, I answered a similar question in another thread, here is a link to it... http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine...d-what-I-want-out-of-it&p=1003224#post1003224 I think the wires are clipped on simply because its cheaper to install. You can solder them when you are happy everything is functioning correctly.
