So a few years back model railroader published about 3 track plans (HO and N) for a bedroom using narrow areas with one larger one for staging/larger industries. It was in their 'great model railroads' book. Does anybody know which issue this is? have it? care to sell it to me? I've gained an extra bedroom since my roommate has moved out and would love to put one of these in there. It would be nice to also have the extra space in the middle for a desk/etc. Thanks! -Rob
You can find/order back issues of "Great Model Railroads" here: Kalmbach Publishing: Model Railroading: Great Model Railroads Annuals Hope that helps! Mike C
Rob - I have a PDF of the "Room Sized Railroads Vol.3" by MR. If you're interested; send me a PM. Rick
Since that's copyrighted material that Kalmbach sells, it's unfortunate that you guys are sharing it without Kalmbach's permission.
Are you sure you aren't thinking of the various bedroom layouts that have been featured in Kalmbach's Model Railroad Planning magazine? The series began in 1996, there were additional series of layouts for the same space in the 1997 and 2000 issues. There have been individual bedroom-sized layouts in other issues of the magazine, including my HOn3 multi-decker in the 2008 issue.
I've been going through several MR magazines that belong to club members about the same material -- basically i'm trying to use a bedroom sized space that can still be used as a guest bedroom... which is a challenge -- I'm trying to get a design for HO scale that could be tweaked for N scale use -- it will use either a folding or fully removable section for the doorway, one section of 3 foot wide, and the rest no more than a foot from the wall simply for the nature of being able to use everything else fully... The plans i was looking for are in the railroad model planning magazines. Hopefully looking at my club members magazines aren't going against copyrighted material. -Rob
