Looking at all the cool layouts, I noticed an item being used by several people. So now I HAVE to ask, what is the white stuff being used to lay track on, to change elevations?
    And who makes it?

Thanks for indulging me in my Railroading
    Re-Birth.

You must be talking about woodland scenics foam risers. Woodland scenics has just prduced a line of layout module kits too.

    MOPHEAD:

Welcome to the forum. Much has changed in N scale in the past few years.

In response to your question, "the white stuff" is foam which you can use as a base on your benchwork and for risers Woodland Scenics make faom risers in 2% and 3% grades. It makes life much easier to model elevation changes with foam risers.

Have fun and enjoy your rebirth in N Scale model railroading.

Stay cool and run steam.... [IMG]

    hello mophead,
yep, woodland scenics foam risers and inclines.
they're made out of expanded foam (regular styrofoam).
the risers come in various heights (1/2", 3/4", 1",2",4") and as PSG mentioned, the inclines come in various grades (2%, 3%,4%)
WS also has a range of other foam materials like profile boards, and foam sheets.
its all part of their "subterrain system".
it really helps for quicker and easier layout construction.
