I have drawn out Benchwork for the back room in my basement based upon modular pieces I created last year for a U shaped layout that you can see in my blog. (Just have to cut one 3'x4' section into some 1' wide sections.)

I was going to get crazy with track, but I realized two things: 1.) I don't know what the heck I need for functionality. 2.) I have a limited amount of track, so I should start simple and buy the flex track I need to complete what I decide on.

So, with that said, I have attached a simple oval track plan around my benchwork. I need some sort of Staging yards/areas, and probably need something of interest track-wise in the big city and rural town.

Keep in mind all of the white areas are open areas where I can stand, so I have access to 3 sides of the 4x4 section etc. so I should be able to reach all areas of the benchwork.

    Any ideas?

Here's a mostly generic post I make quite often when members explore new layouts. The principles apply to any layout design.

I know most of the stuff I want and need in my layout. I want a farm, a small town, and a larger town.
I think, but am not sure, that I need a staging yard. But I am not sure how to incorporate it.
