Bachmann has pics of the new 2-6-0 in their online catolog. Kinda hard to find, you will have to do a product search under 2-6-0, but they are there. They do look nice, and YES they do have SHORT tenders ! Spectrum model with DCC, couplers on front and rear, price on their site....179.00.....Mike

I am not sure that this qualifies as the models being here... all it shows is that they have photos of models on their site. So far I haven't found any dealers that actually have them in stock, despite the late-September delivery date.
Fortunately... the did not do a modified copy of their 0-6-0 switcher or 2-6-2 prairie. Looks pretty good on their site.
I don't have any need for this locomotive. Since my interests run along Appalachian coal mining, the 2-8-0 is more appropriate for my needs. However, I do note that there is no mention of traction tires or pulling ability. More information in this area should be developed.
An administrator posted on the Bachmann forum, "All of the roadnames are now in stock except for Boston & Maine. Enjoy!". So hopefully dealers should soon be getting them.
Not seeing the Parts listed :-( definitely want to get this short tender behind my 4-6-0's which will be a LOT less cut and paste to recast it as a Canadian loco
I was going to say that it is probably the USRA short tender that has been available for some time, but comparing photos it looks like a new tender. Give them time with the parts, I also noticed there is now a full inventory of 4-6-0 parts available including tenders, there were none listed when it first came out.
Bachmann had a sample at the National Train Show at Grand Rapids MI. Was told will not be selling tender. Hope they change their minds. Dan
"Was told will not be selling tender." Well, lets hope that such can yet be obtained once parts start being listed. Would be a bit nicer than the USRA short even though most of my steamers will yet be using that type. Would look really great behind a Ten Wheeler.
"BLW indicates in stock." Not on this page... http://www.blwnscale.com/Bachmann 2-6-0.htm The new page at the new domain isn't set up yet...
Mark, are you going to tear it down??? Hope not. Mech is likely same as ten-wheeler. Let's see if pilot truck is installed correctly.
OK, here it is - The locomotive chassis/mechanism is similar in design to the 4-6-0, but not quite the same (although it does appear to be equipped with the same coreless motor as the 4-6-0). I still need to do some more in-depth testing, but my first impression is WOW! This thing is definitely one sweet runner, and at least so far looks to be another winner for Bachmann. I really like the new tender and hope it eventually becomes available for purchase separately. -Mark
