What other Aussies are subscribed here (besides me and Colonel) and where are you guys located? It would be nice to share contacts in regards to stores etc. I'm particularly interested in that, starting out on DCC, becuase not knowing anything, you never know if the guy is feeding you crap or not... LOL.

    I'm in Bendigo, Vic.

The best contact I've had so far is the guy at Hearn's Hobbies in Flinders St Melbourne.... not only does he know his stuff, but he was only too ready to refer me to another store for stuff he didnt have.

I've also had good contact with the guy at the hobby store in the factory outlets at Moorabin airport. This is the only place I've seen a GOOD range of the WS foam risers and inclines, and he is CHEAP, particularly for quality n-scale locos. Bugger all rolling stock, and not a huge range, but good usable stuff.

Let us know your 'places to buy', or even places to visit to see whats available....

    G'day,

I'm another buttttttt..... I'm currently in the UK.

As for stores, can't say about Melbourne but Sydney's another matter. Sounds like you have found a gem in Hearn's Hobbies (Paul, I think that's Geoff Hearn's [A/C Strathfield] father's shop), though.
As for DCC info, Gary Spenser-Salt of the Model Railroad Craftsman in Blacktown, Sydney, is a supplier and advocate of DCC. Very knowledgable.

Hearn's have been around forever.... I remember them being there, in exactly the same place, with exactly the same layout, over 30 years ago and they werent a new business then. Says something about their success. A great store with an incredible range and sensational service in the RR department (it helps to deal with the owner!).

I remember a shop that used to be in Swanston St Melbourne called the Model dockyard. This was 2 floors of railroad and scale model boats (man, you think railroads are expensive!) with a few control-line and RC planes thrown in. Sadly they closed up a few years ago, with no forwarding address.

Do you have a link to that stores website?
