Do you think there will ever be enough of us for a manufaturer to come out with a wagontop caboose kit ? [ an EM-1 for around $300 would be nice, too...ha ha! ].

Mike, welcome to Trainboard...there's a few B&O fans around here.

Ref the wagontop caboose, you might be pleasantly surprised if you check out this website: Pacific Mountain Shops

They look pretty cool, i've been tempted to do a Chessie one myself. [IMG]

    Hope that helps.

Pacific Mountain was the only company to offer a wagon top caboose! Other then brass.

As for an EM-1, HA! Mike we are 2 people dreaming. My screen name says alot! I'd love to see someone make an EM-1 for around $300.... If it was less detail or not. I'd detail it myself! BUT I have customized 5 BIG Rivarossi Big Boys into EM-1's. Alot of plastic surgery but. I did it.... :D I wanted a 7600 in the worst kinda way. So, I custom made one, (then a few) from Rivarossi Big Boys! [IMG]

John, have you built any of their cabeese? They look pretty good on the website, and I do fancy doing one...well, some time in the future! [IMG]

Thanks for the replies, Martyn and John.
John, you've got more nerve than I have, cutting up Big Boys to make EM-1's...back in 1962, an Akane brass EM-1 listed for US$115..only trouble was that was about 125 hours wages for a lot of us back then, and I bought a used car for that same price instead.

Martyn and John, thanks for the tip on PW, I had not heard of them, and hadn't visited the B&O Historical company store site for a couple of years.
Here they are, [ PW], practically next door...only about 1800 miles west of here. ;)
Hope things are well in Exeter, Martyn, my mother lives in Paignton.
I don't get over as often as I should.
    best regards / Mike

There is a wagon top caboose on eBay right now! Look under the "New Today" listings HO.

Thanks for the 'heads-up', Watach...but they're only accepting bids for shipment within the USA. Darn old 49th parallel trips more people that way..it's a lot thicker in real life than it is on a map!

Mike, If my memory serves me right the B&O HS is selling the PM wagon top cabeese from their gift shop. But, I could be mistaken!

    Martyn,
I don't have any of those cabeese yet.. Key word is "yet" being the era I model requires one! even 2 or 3! :D BUT, I have seen these completed and running, and must say, they are wonderfull replicas! I mean $32 to $34 is a little steep for a plastic resin kit.... That you have to paint and decal, BUT It sure beats the $300 of the only offering wagon top caboose in brass! I can buy 5 or 6 engines for $300!

A close friend of mine got 2 of them, and they are a well detailed kit. All the hand railing and grab irons are all shaped wire, which you have to drill holds for and install. Very detailed and good looking body...I will one day have at least one of these! I'm not to much on the wooden I-5 center cupola cabeese the B&O had. I do however like the wagon top bay window cab's and the regular bay window cab's so.... :D
