Congratulations in2tech, you did good. Solving a problem like that is very satisfying though I hope to never have to do something similar.

Yep usually takes me at least that long, if not longer. This time first try. I used up my one Atlas U25B miracle, that will never happen again. Glad to know I am not the only one that hates those rings, or Saddle thingy's :) What a horrible design!

Small problem I have to squeeze the shell on the Atlas U25B mainly when it first starts up. Not sure if it is the contacts that touch the trucks or maybe the two halves need and adjustment. Only appears to happen when it hasn't been run first part of the day. Once I squeeze the shell lightly it will start and stop great during a session. Any idea on this one? Other then that, best it has ever run since I have owned these. For some reason I can't remember how I disassembled the trucks awhile back. I don't want to break them :) Anyone aware of a video to take the trucks apart?

    Thanks!

Alright time to take it apart again, arrgg. I think it is the contacts on the motor not seated and contacting the DCC decoder properly, me thinks. Can I use Kapton tape to tape them to the motor and make the connection better? Although I don't think that is possible? At least I think this is it? Not sure if this is the correct motor but it is on the Atlas parts site for the U25B. I'll look at it when I open it again. Geez, it's gonna take forever to get those Saddles to seat properly again, although I hope not :)

Of course mine are bent into position already.

Could the assembly be easier if a wired DCC decoder was used ?
I know I don't like doing Intermountain SD45T-2 DCC installation due to the board and motor having to align to align all at the same time.
I have a couple of U25's that have yet to be converted to DCC :)

The motor pictured above is not for a DCC or DCC-ready mechanism. The correct motor already has the motor contacts arranged so they both extend off the top to make contact with the light board or decoder.

It is a fairly common issue to have a spotty connection between the motor contacts and the contacts on the bottom of the light board or decoder and this sounds like what you may be experiencing.

I figured it was not, but just wanted to show the springy contacts, and I bent them a bit to make a better connection on my motor and all is GOOD now, thanks! Works great now!

Alright anyone know the brand of this decoder for my U25B. It is a spare, one of two, I got the Lenz one working which is great. Trying to find out IF this one works or NOT! They originally come with NCE decoders or mine did.

I can't find anymore marking on this one. The Lenz had the number on the actual decoder!

NO marking on the other side, the blurry picture :)

    Thanks!

Not saying it is but it looks a lot like a Digitrax DN163A0

If not a PIA, you can put it back into the loco, put in on the programming tack and read CV8. The resultant number will tell you who made it.

Alright so I installed it and entered CV8 and it says it can not read it. Guess it does not work or I am doing something wrong. I'll still ship it, them, to whomever buys the lot. But the LENZ one does work and set to #3, which is nice to have a backup!

Probably be listing them in the Swap Meet Area soon! Give the Trainboard people a chance first before I try and sell on eBay :)

Hoping someone here wants them really. So far I have done really well selling items here that people want and it helps me get rid of items I no longer use or want. Plus every buyer I have worked with here over the years have ben really nice!

Still can't believe I took this thing apart about 4-5 times and each time went right back together. first try Something must be in the water :) It usually does not work that way with these Atlas U25B's :)
