From the Trains Newswire, this news of Athearn's new boxcar: HORICON, Wis. - Athearn Trains has added 1:1-proportion to its product line - sort of. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Athearn had the crew at Wisconsin & Southern's Horicon paint shop repaint 52-foot double-plug-door boxcar no. 503119 in the special scheme shown. The boxcar was built by United States Railway Equipment Corp. in August 1971, and like Model Railroader's 70th anniversary boxcar, is part of WSOR's canned-goods fleet. An HO scale model of the car will be released in December 2007 and will sell for $17.98. Look for this boxcar at a railfan location near YOU!! Yes, it has scale-size metal wheels.
