    Hey Guys,
It's been a long time since I've posted. I just want to enquire regarding people's ideas on this or if anyone has heard anything from Athearn at shows etc.

Do you think Athearn will produce a Union Pacific Early Challenger in N scale? It gives me hope that they produced an HO SP&S and Northern Pacific challengers then produced them in N. So, I am hoping that as they've produced an HO Early Challenger, they'll release an N one.

I know that I would buy several if they did, I love look of the early challengers. I think we've got an access of the modern main-stream big power (or should that be main-steam!) in N, but the CSA-1 although still a challenger, would make a very welcome addition to the N steam stable with non-generic looks, yes I know non-generic potentially limits sales etc, but I think the sales potential of this would definitely outweigh the tooling costs.

Come on trainboard, tell me your thoughts and let's get Athearn on their toes and produce this!

    Phil

I would buy one just to run slow freights.

I'm a huge fan of the first generation challengers and if Athearn makes them there would definitely be at least one on my roster to go along with my Big Boy, FEF, NP challenger, and my two D&RGW challengers.

I hope if they produce one, they make them with the early pilot, eg not cast, or both seem as how the cast front end is very similar to the modern challengers. I like the look of the non cast pilot, lends it more of that unique early challenger look.

If they produced one already in N, I think all the N scale UP runners would own one within a week of its release! ;)
