I've heard some rumblings from the NTS that Athearn announced both a F45 and FP45 in N-scale. There is currently nothing about it on their website. Can anyone confirm if the reports from NTS are true?

Yes... I can confirm there is nothing on Athearn's website about new F45/FP45s ;). I may have to order a couple of ATSF warbonnets if true though.

There was a passing mention in the Atlas HO forum from someone at the NMRA Show, which just started today.

If Athearn has chosen to make their announcement at the show, which is plausible, we shouldn't expect to see anything on their website yet, and perhaps not for quite a while.

So far this has only come from the one source, so let's wait and see if it turns out to be true.

The poster on the Atlas forum claims multiple posting on trainorders but I find no memtion on train orders of these in N. I think it is a jumping of the gun.

    You didn't look hard enough...

7 posts down you'll find this...

"How did your contact miss the top announcement all new Genesis F45 and FP45's with etched grills (both EMD and Farr), plastic tanks, pilot details and all that other fun stuff. The F45 and FP45 are also coming in N scale."

Same person posted the same message six posts down in this thread on the Atlas board...

Yes but what is it that is out of the bag? Those posts are just talking about HO models. Athearn Genesis is all HO isn't it? And the Atlas post you quote is on the HO forum.

I am beginning to think that Grant will continue to have a market for his N kits.

Athearn is prime target for doing an N scale F or FP45 because they've made them for decades in HO. They followed their HO challenger with an N scale version so the rumor makes sense.

The nice thing about future product rumors is if they cause enough excitement, manufacturers listen and true the rumor up. They are in this buisiness to make money and will make what we want.

Of COURSE.. After the long-awaited Kaslo/sar kits come out...

I wonder if Grant's will be better detailed? The freestanding grabs and etched details will set it apart...:D

Since I kitbashed that GN Great Dome Lounge car in N, will it be next?? :eek:o2pz:

I just got an e-mail from Horizon confirming that the F & FP45 will be coming in N-Scale. The N version of the Genesis line apparently will be kicked off by this.

YES! Thank you for being the one to resolve this question finally.

There's never been a good plastic F45 or FP45 in N. I'm glad Athearn is stepping up to the challenge. I'm especially pleased to note they'll be making both the F45 and FP45, despite the narrower usability of the FP45 and its requiring a different chassis.

Good news for Santa Fe, GN/BN, Milwaukee, WC, Montana RailLink and Susquehanna modellers.

    How's the hand/arm?

BTW, to keep on topic, I agree especially in b/y pre-72.

Yes, I'm in for a MRL F45, and a maybe even an ATSF cowl as well. That's assuming it will be a while before they are out.

I would get a few and paint them in any of the SP schemes... though a set in SP Daylight colors or blackwidow would look rather nice. This will actually be great for all of the freelancers out there... especially me. Not to derail but when people post, you should put your "coulda, woulda, maybe" scheme.
