Did a lot over the weekend on my layout. Layed roadbed for the outer circles and the 9 switches. Only have to lay roadbed bor the interior yards of my 5' X 10' layout. Time to start gluing the track in place..... Question: What is the best way to solder the feeder wires to the track? At the rail joiner or elsewhere? If you do the railjoiner does it melt your solder connection you might already have on the joint? I am struggling with the soldering the feeder wires... Thanks for the feedback... Dave
Using Peco Code 55 Flex Track, I cut a small notch out of the bottom of the ties somewhere around the middle of the piece of track and solder the feeder wires to the bottom of the rails. That has worked well for me and it's all hidden once you get the ballast down. The down side is that you have to solder the feeders on BEFORE you glue the track in place, making it a little more time consuming.
Progress, well yes and no.I get to tear out all the tops off my existing benchwork and start over Progress Yes-Corey has finished designing my yard area and is working on the rest.this of course is the reason for starting over. The Plan is way cool and very functional.it'll be a joy doing the demo work knowing i am actually moving ahead!!
I did that when I redesigned my entire layout. It took me about an hour to demo what took me a month to put down.
Well, i look at it this way, sometimes ya just gotta take a step backwards if your gonna make that runnin leap And what a leap it is going to be.Just take a look at the yard area Corey put together for me.And then , after looking, tell me if it aint worth it !!
