I'm a big fan. This is the first time these cars have sat on the tracks and my first picture of the whole train. A-B-A F-7's and 15 cars. Sweet.
Beautiful! I plan to add this train to my roster one day... Unfortunately, other more PRR druthers are ahead of it on the priority list for my hobby budget.
Very nice photo, nice train. I would have jumped at an EB, but balked when I found out it was an older run of UP prototype, painted in GN. I passed. I had that same set from the early run, and sold it off. If they do one in correct cars, and add the famous View series Great Dome lounge car, then I'd bite. I built a Great Dome lounge car, using Brass Car Sides and a Bachmann full dome car. They are an exceptional pain in the anatomy to line up all the decal stripes, and a lot of tedious work to complete. I worked with Mark Jirousek (N scale passenger-car-builder extraordinaire) to get tips and tricks to build the car. This was about 7 years ago:
The Kato EMD EB F7's with the aluminum (not silver) painted underframes were okay for me... they are prototypically correct and I finally acquired a ABBA consist. Too bad though the paint scheme didn't last all that long... high maintenance costs!! The Kato EB cars, however, are another matter altogether... as HEMI has already stated. If Kato ever decides to produce the EB with "prototypically correct" cars like they did for their ATSF and PENNSY passenger sets, then I just may have to come up with the necessary funding... until then: NOT A CHANCE!
I'm still hoping to get a couple of these cars done correctly... at least it's still on my 'Wish List.' :tb-cool:
Nice dome Hemi. I know this Kato set isn't correct but for me and my freinds , who cares . It still looks cool.
Very nice. I have 1 Kato 4 car set, and am planning to add some of the Rapido sets. I can't wait to get a chance to run mine.
Sorry... I didn't mean to imply your EB consist was any less than 'Cool!'... it's just that for me Kato blew this one badly in light of what they accomplished with their other passenger name trains. A 15 car Empire Builder always looks 'Great'... :tb-biggrin:
