Here's a lookalike John Allen special, I always thought his craftsmanship and photography were fabulous. Paul
Awesome Paul! I saw your spread in Model Railroading. Congratulations. Great article. Their printer did not do justice to your pictures, as the ones here on the internet look fantastic while the magazine shots were washed out. Hopefully if more people subscribe to their magazine, they will be able to afford a better printer.
Paul, I posted on another board this same question but I wanted to see what your response was. I am building a station that has a curved bay window. I need to bend some basswood siding to that curve. I have found that the wood is too stiff to bend to the curve without breaking. Do you have any suggestions on how to do this? The suggestions I have received so far are to cut the back with a saw every 1/8", soak the wood in water, and steam the wood. Thanks for any input. David
Hi all, and thanks for the comments. David, I would soak the wood first for around a couple of hours, then steam it around a former, and clamp it overnight. Hope this helps. Paul
Paul, I have the same issue of MR that John Allen had that article in it with the engine house! And must say, you missed one detail! The leaking water tower/tank! GREAT WORK! Makes Johns look simple.... At least you made it look simple anyway! I like it! Be a nice engine house to park my Shays and even my lil' 0-4-0 Camelback in!
Paul, masterful as always! How long does it take you to produce such a structure? When I FINALLY get up to see you, I expect you will knock another one up while I am there By the way, will you be at the Warley show again this year? We will be there on the saturday from the start.
Hi Paul, great model, just one question, as I'm new here, what scale is it? Alan, we are going to Warley on the Sunday, Are you on a sales stand/layout so we can introduce ourselves? Westford Homepage.
Fenton, we are going as visitors. (Can't afford Warley trade stand prices) Hope we meet up amidst all the crowds [ 18. November 2002, 08:22: Message edited by: Alan ]
