For all railfans in particular and all Trainboard members in general, I have a picture (b&w) clipped from the local newspaper that establishes a connection between the late, great Edward R. Murrow and railroading. What do I need to do to post such a picture on TB & to which "forum" should I post it?
Stan, The first thing you need to do is get it uploaded to a place on the internet that allows posting to TrainBoard such as RailImages. Do you have such a place or RailImages account?
1. I do not have a RailImages account. 2. Not sure I understand "... have such a place..." (i.e. place on the Internet that allows posting to the Internet). 3. Picture was published in our local newspaper, with their name shown under (presumably, copyright). Maybe I need to contact them to see if I need permission to post on Trainboard.
Stan, Yes, if published in a newspaper you need to find out if they hold a copyright on it. You can get a free RailImages account to upload photos at http://www.railimages.com Charlie
Another option is to post a link to an existing copy of the image somewhere else. Does the newspaper have a website where they put up copies of their articles (like the Wisconsin State Journal and the Capital Times do at http://www.madison.com )?
Story from National Public Radio about Edward R. Murrow being son of a railroad engineer. Is this anything like the store you saw? http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1872668
