In My Prayers I am a praying man and will lift you up each day. Three years ago at age 76 I was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis [PSC]. PSC is a very rare and inoperable liver disorder. I was informed that my time remaining with my family ranged from ten months to ten years. I began my medications, continued with my vegan diet and increased my fitness routine to six days a week. In good weather I ride my bike 16 miles. At my last series of tests and scans there was no sign of the disease. The doctors credit the medications, healthy diet and exercise. I CREDIT GOD. The hardest part was wrapping my mind around the notion that I was mortal and needed to prepare for my end time. This took about six months. Now I live each day as though it is my last and I thank God often throughout the day for the little things I had taken for granted. Please have faith, Don, and based upon the number of folks that are keeping you in prayer you are truly blessed. Dick Brown
All I can say is, this is one of the most thoughtful (and unexpected) posts I have ever read.... Cheers to you, Donald. Glad to have you here, and hope to keep ya here!
I am glad that he was able to say good-bye to us prior. May we all be so fortunate as to be able to tie up loose ends before we go. High greens all the way, Don!
Glad he was able to post his parting message. I am sure he felt much better for being able to do so. Condolences to his loved ones and RIP. Boxcab E50
I was proud to call him a friend. My condolences to his family and friends. May God look kindly on your soul.
My condolences to his family and acquaintances. I am unaware of his impressions on my life and was wondering if anyone could post or direct me to some of his work?
He sounds like such a quality guy, and it was truly sad for his family and friends to lose him. But hopefully as he said in 2006, he decided to live his remainder of his life to what he deemed the fullest, and God gave him 5 years. I just lost a non railroading friend at age 63 in an unexpected operation and still grieving the loss from a month ago. I take some solace that she had a rewarding life all the way to the end. I recently faced a life threatening situation myself in Intensive Care Unit at a hospital, with a congestive heart failure, and thankfully I was able to fight it out and recover, thanks to the doctors and technology today. But in those 4 days there, I devoted a lot of thought and gratitude to have the life I was fortunate enough to lead. I am by no means rich or famous, but I was able to experience a memorable life and have a rewarding family and friends. I know that he felt the same way judging from the tone of his inputs. My heart reaches out to him, and extend my condolences and sympathy to his family and friends, I know they suffered a great loss of a really good guy. Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
Prayers go out to his family. I know he considered us a part of his family to post such a letter to us all. He will be missed.
I came & read this notice and was saddened, yet happy with his wonderful attitude. I was deeply touched. Then, I read where he had passed and .... oddly enough .... all I heard in my head was a series of long steam whistle blasts. I'll bet he was in paradise an hour before the devil knew he was gone. L-rd, grant peace and comfort to his family and friends. Pastor Kress
