Once the first set of wheels set-up, the foam is repositioned, and the next two wheels are glued in place.
Here's the Arabian with the wheels installed. Next I will add the springs and connecting rods to the wheels.
Once this dries, I will touch up, then highlight some areas in white. Here's how small this is, compared to the dime.
Jerry, What in the heck did you do to your GS4? I come on line here and dashed to the last page expecting to see how you detailed out your GS4 AFT version. To my surprise...and other expeletives I dare not repeat...I wondered what you were trying to do and then I thought this must be the first GS4. No that can't be I know better then that.. Oh well, I'm not that foolish so I went back to re-read and enjoy your work on these old timers to be placed in the display car. Nice job...of detailing! You have an amazing way, an imaginative approach to creating a prototype. Have fun.
Thanks Richie! I am just hoping to do the real train justice. It truely was a beautiful train, and carried so much of our history to many people.
A quick trip to Hobby Lobby today after getting my staples out and found these bells. Just about the right size for the N Scale Freedom Bell.
Here's the finished models and the new Freedom Bell. Still need to make the Map of the Trains trip, and the Fire truck.
The Fire Truck is going to be the hold up I can see here. I have went through the scrap bins and I have nothing that will come close to the large spoked wheels. I do see some possibilities on EBay, however, a little pricey. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, considering so far everything has been made from basically nothing, maybe a couple bucks in total material, and a dollar something for the bell(s). Alright......Buy-it-Now, here I come.
Alright, I have the Fire Trucks wheels from EBay....well, it's an Amish Buggy brass kit, but thats just what the package is going to say. When it's done it will be a Fire Truck. While I wait for it to arrive, I figure I will start work on the hand pumps.
And this is the real one, and what I hope to closely model. This will be the last exhibit for the display cars, and as you have seen, modelers licence is the norm. But they are close, and thats what I am going for. As long as someone looks and says, thats a Moon Rover, or that an old Fire truck, we've done OK.
