From Yahoo Group's Railspot list, this report by Don Strack: The most recent group of 100 UP SD70ACe units has been delivered in several mixed-up batches. They are numbered as UP 8424-8523. The first to be delivered was UP 8521, on 24 May 2006, but I think it went directly to Horicon, Wis., to get painted into the D&RGW Heritage scheme and renumbered as UP 1989. The rest started arriving on 1 June 2006, with the first ones numbered as UP 8525 and 8530. With the September deliveries, the last four units were delivered, numbered as UP 8434, 8435, 8482, and 8483. All 100 units are now apparently delivered and in service.
Thanks for the notes!! I know I've been seeing alot more of the ACes recently here in Nor-Cal. I'm really liking them.
Since I've been here in GA, all I've seen close to that model are the SD70M-2s NS has. Out in Cheyenne, I shot quite a few "Big Aces" on & off Sherman Hill. It's nice to hear EMD prime movers at work.
I'll take a whining EMD over a chugging GE anyday. Good to see Uncle Pete getting fresh paint. 90% of the fleet is filthy!
