Thanks. Would you believe it's all Bachmann EZ-Track. I've had people look at in person and many of them totally miss that.
I know. I can't move it anywhere else as that's the ONLY window it'll fit in. Moving it would be rather pointless though as nearly all the windows in the room look onto the layout and at closer quarters than that one does. There's a 2" gap between the edge of the ballast and the front of the AC unit. At all the others even if it could fit it would be right over the track, as in on top of it. There is one bigger window but it has no structural frame and would require that the entire portion of that side of the trailer be rebuilt and I'm not doing that. I've been toying with the idea of making a facade to put in front of it that would block all but the top vents from view but I never get around to making one.
I know what you're saying. My layout is going to pass right in front of the window also and I'm going to have a window unit. I considered cutting a hole in the wall in another place, but that's a lot of construction when a window unit will just pop in. Nice photos. Did you paint the background yourself or is it pre-made? If pre-made who makes it? .
The mounting wall on which the background is mounted is made up of pieces of poster board and was hand painted. The background I got from Busch but it appears to be no longer available. It's been out of stock since I got mine and that's been a while ago.
I got a start on a couple of junk scenes. I still have to add bushes, weeds and some details. I also placed a couple of junk vehicles by an old freight shed. There's still two van boxes, a storage tank and a five vehicle junkyard scene to place. So much to do.
I had a car like this 45' PS-1 covered hopper back in the 70's that I got from a friend of mine. I believe it to be an AHM/Roco model from the early 60's. AHM dropped it before 1970 due to inflation in Europe raising the price of the unit. Con-Cor announced that it had bought the original tooling from Lilliput of Vienna Austria and brought it back to mint condition. Sitting in a warehouse for nearly 20 years had taken a toll on it. One major improvement was made. It was modified to take body mounted horn hooks or Kadee #5's. My model doesn't have this modification and it's stamped AHM Austria so it has to be one of the early models. This one has had the Union Pacific name painted over and the L&A logo added.
Looks good!. I really like the new cars that are available from Athearn, Atlas, Intermountain, Foxvalley, etc....but some of those older cars still look pretty darn good and often are a bargain compared to the newer stuff. Of course, the few Tyco cars that I still have from my original layout in the 1970's are not used for anything on the layout....wait, I did use a RailBox Tyco car to help shape the Latex rubber for my latex rubber brake project, but that does not count. So far, my roster is a mixture of newer detailed cars and older Blue Box cars. What make is the Air Force F unit? I enjoy the photos!
The Air Force F2 shell is from Model Power. I have it on an Athearn F7 frame. The only modification was to make the tab slots in the shell a little longer.
