Anyone here familiar with Mont, Illinois? At this point, the ICRR crossed the Illinois Terminal Railroad. Am curious as to what was there. AFAIK- It was out away from any town. Did it have an interlocking tower? Were there gates? Or?

The IT crossed over the IC at Mont on a girder bridge. An interchange track curved off the IT to the northeast to connect with the IC. There was also a small grain elevator at Mont.

Both lines are now bicycle trails.

Was Mont a settlement or town? Or was it simply a railroad named location?

Browsing the site I noticed this thread. Several years ago I drove along a good portion of the old IT on a jaunt from my home town of Seattle. Checking a few of my IT related links there was one tiny nugget. This page shows train #200 departing the IT at Mont in favor of the IC, I believe the IT had negotiated for trackage rights at this location. Does not look like a settlement area.
