Here's a pic I took last week at a UP's engine facility in Denver. We don't normally see NS locos out here - but it does happen. Maybe its me but it seems as if I've seen more this last year. Maybe I've just been paying more attention. It could also be that this loco was conducting recon for an upcoming BORG war and was captured by the enemy Eric
Flash, No, I took it from a road that runs right next to the yard. It is just east of Pecos and north of Hwy 36 here in Denver. It was easy to get close and stay on public property. Eric
Side Topic! Keep an eye out for UP #1229 through #1248 in the Denver Yards for me as I'm looking for photo's of these for my web site.
They better keep a close watch on it. As patch happy as UP is (referencing an article in Trains I received in the mail last night), they might get a little carried away!
For those of you who dont know Denver to well The Picture was take at the old Rio Grande North yard engine shop. Also I have seen NS units going through Longmont on the BNSF.You can almost bet on seeing an NS going through Cheyenne Wyoming.Last time my son and I were up in the PowderRiver basin, we had seen NS units on BNSF coal trains coming out of the Black Thunder mine. Yes they are rare units to see out here (colorado) but not quite imposssible to see. They are neat to see them go through the area
Here is a pure NS consist seen recently in Alliance Nebraska. Two C 44-9Ws and an SD 70M. There have been others like it seen in the area.
We must be trading power these days. I've never seen so much western stuff in my neck of the woods as there has been lately. Seems to be a lot of yellow, red, blue etc. where all was black & white.
You guys can keep all those NS units out west. We are enjoying seeing all the color that has come east to take there place.
