The first scheduled train to the Grand Canyon arrived 99 years ago on this date. The first train carrying passengers from Williams to the Grand Canyon arrived on September 18th. The Grand Canyon Railway is trying to get the Santa Fe 3751 over to Williams for its Centennial next year.

It was a scary ride through the canyon in 1939. Mom wouldn't let me look out the window. We were on the river side when the train went out on the hanging bridge down there.
