Does CSX have any C30-7's or other -7 models left? I thought I saw one a few months ago on a BNSF train at Hauser ID. Kevin
Still some B36-7's left, the B30-7's are going fast. I believe most (more than half?) are off of the roster, now. C30-7's are all gone. There may be a few old conrail C36's running around as primarily MoW duties.
I had seen B30-7s in switcher and road freight service in Cordele both last summer and this year, and last year a B36-7 or two. Didn't spot any C30-7s, though........
I don't think any US Class 1 has 6-axle -7s left. Judging by photos, NS was first to get rid of all -7s. BNSF, UP and CSX eliminated 6-axle -7s in recent years, and BNSF just sold off all their remaining 4-axle -7s. EDIT: CSX Motive Power That confirms it. No 6-axles on CSX. I do believe they were the last Class 1 to roster them (2005?)
I know there was a C36-7 (7136?) running around in the last year with SD40 4617 down around Huntington in the last 12-18 months with MoW, must have finally gotten sacked.
Glancing at the leasing companies' rosters, there are still six-axle Dash-7s around. I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods, though
Quite a sizeable fleet of ATSF U36C's were rebuilt as SF30C's, then put back to GE for lease, then went out to other lease fleets. After the rebuilds they were a lot closer to a -7 than an original U. A lot are gone now, but it seems when I do see an old GE, a disproportionate amount came out of that program, much as the CF7's and a host of other ATSF rebuilds did before them. Several of the units clearly show the ATSF heritage by the partial yellow warbonnets remaining.
Saw a B-something-7 yesterday behind a big modern GE unit westbound hauling a mixed freight of about 60 cars or so. Didn't have my camera, sorry.
I saw some of the 5800 series B36-7's in Cartersville GA last Saturday. They seem to be normal local power in that area.
