dan, i showed what i did on another thread (here: 4-8-4 conversion DRGW M68 -- Tender - TrainBoard.com). i used the trucks from the hallmark christmas ornament UP Veranda turbine tender. i drillled into the side of the rim and threaded fine phospher bronze wire into it. then i used a plug of styrene tube to hold them. i then twisted the two leads (on a side) and soldered the leads to the twisted sides wire. i would use the lightest wire you can find. it's very "flimsy" in lengths, and you might think you need stronger, but it will supply a lot of pressure on the wheel in its short run. i used AZL wheels flatteded some with a cut off wheel on a dremel. i opened the area on the truck where the flanges move to keep them from pressing and binding. the picture below shows i sealed up the bottom again (with a hole for the screw i inserted). dave f.
David, I don't know how I missed that original post. Thank you for posting again. A very simple and elegant solution. Thanks again. Dan S.
