NMRA convention next week. Hope we get some pictures here on TrainBoard. John Lowrance, a SAMRA member and one of the clinic presenters, left yesterday. I haven't heard much here on TB.
I'll be there I'm flying across the lake on Saturday. I'll also be presenting a couple clinics, but due to a miscommunication somewhere, my info didn't get into the main schedule book (I got an email from the clinic chair today that I need to reply to later tonight), so check the errata sheets.
Okay, anyone in or around Detroit going to attend the NMRA convention this year in Detroit? I'm going. It's Sunday, July 22, 2007 thru Saturday, July 28, 2007. Here's a link to the official site: 2007 Detroit NMRA Convetion Hope to see some of you there!
As a former region Pres & V.P. I'd really like to go but it has to make economic sense. It would have cost ~$4000 for booth space. No apparent drive-in ability for load/unload. And there is an additional requirement that would mandate us to pay for facility staff to watch us setup. We don't expect to make money on shows. We hope to break even and the advertising benefit draws in new long-term business. The $$ did not work so that we could see any way to break even financially on the trip. We'd rather put that money into additional special runs like the ATSF GP-40. When NMRA selects locations that are drive-in for load and unload and do not have facility staff under contract requiring vendors to hire them, we will try again.
