I noticed that AC4400CW 9523 and 9624 have been added to the unservicable list. Were they wrecked? I was suprised to see them pop up. Several other units also were added including- 1 SD40-2M, 4 SD40-2s, 1 GP38-2, 1 GP7u, 1 SD40. Alot of units added over the last month, more than ussual I beleive. Happy Railroading! Dane N.
Yes, they were both wrecked. The 9523 was involved in the derailment near Salmon Arm and 9624 had an unfortunate incounter with a coal tipple at Roberts Bank. [ 13 May 2001: Message edited by: E&NRailway ]
Hey B C Rail King, do you ever get a chance to go see the new Talgo type Coast Liner they are building there in Vancoover? It was on TV News today. Looks pretty stream lined!
Watash, Both Dane and I are staring at the screen dumbfounded as this is the first we have heard of it. Let us know if you hear more, I will definitely put a call into my friends and follow this up. I don't even have a clue where they would build it, if out here. Other than rebuilds of engines both diesel and steam, I have never heard of anything new ever being built out here. I have the program recorded. My mistake, it is being built in Seattle, Washington! In a dock side warehouse, the Amtrak & State of Washington are financing Talgo of Spain in building the cars for a new train, the "Cascade". It will run from Vancouver, B.C. Canada, 400 miles through Seattle, Wa. Portland, OR. to Eugene, ORegon over the nortoriously curving route along the west coast. The Talgo Company of Spain furnished a set of cars for a test on this route, that has been run in regular service for the last three years with great rider acceptance. Data gleaned from the testing, is being incorporated into improvements in the suspension on the new train set, which will be pulled bu a regular Amtrak engine to start. The TV news made it sound like it was a brand new secret thing, I'm sorry guys, you have probably already ridden on it. [ 19 May 2001: Message edited by: watash ]
I hope this "new" Talgo series offers a far better ride than those that ran on the New Haven and B&M for a very short time in the late 50's and early 60's! I never rode on them, but all records show they rode rougher than a COB! Hank
