[IMG] 1950's Santa-Fe Super-Chief: Can anyone tell me if it was possible to send a wire from the moving train? I have read things that suggest this was possible. Can ANYONE help?
I've looked at the '41 & '49 booklets but they do not say diffinitively. I'm writing fictional story about the train in 1952 any help with this point would be appreciated!
[I also model in N Scale AT&SF in the same period]

I can't speak for the Sante Fe. However, I believe that both the New York Central and the Pennsy offered limited phone service by plugging into local phone lines at stations as early as the 30's. Of course it had to be pre-arranged. Also I believe the Pennsy, and maybe the Central, offered radio-phone service on-board starting around 1950.

I hope that someone will either confirm or correct me on these .... [IMG]
