Just ordered some UP/SP ice reefers that Intermountain just shipped. R-40-10 reefers to pull behind a Cab Forward. They came in stock at woo woo woo Kleins yesterday afternoon - I ordered 3 and by supper time all three versions (6 numbers each) were totally sold out! I also ordered 2 Tangent covered hoppers - a blue Great Northern 4740 and a yellow Cargill 4750.
If I stick to buying only the IMR reefers, it's going to take a while to build up a decent reefer block due to cost and them being hard to find. Prior to this new run, of which I could only afford 3 before they sold out, I managed to only find 3 others last year - they are hard to find after the production run sells out. IMR only seems to make them once every couple years. Even the cheaper Accurail version sold out super fast. They are very popular. IMR is expected to ship more versions next year and if I get lucky, I may be able to find a few more in the mean time.
These are my next 11 bi-level cars called "IC-2000" in service at the swiss railway SBB. Currently I have total 38 pieces of them and I can form 4 complete trains!
Bought this from E.W. Lewis. This is for his Cumberland, Utica and Toledo railroad. I still have to number it, it will be in his number series of 10000, 10574. He had Bowser print them up for him.
This is one of two of the new BLI Cryogenic Tank cars for hauling liquefied Argon Gas that I just received. These were built in the early 60's and were used for a long time in this service. Rick Jesionowski
Picked this up for a good price at the NEC model railway exhibition last weekend. RTR Athearn and came dcc installed and makes a nice switcher... will be patched into CRRC Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
My purchase at the NEC show was BNSF 573, also a VERY good price! It will in due course be re-lettered Santa Fe. Really like the fine detail around the air tanks
Also bought three Athearn ready to roll tank cars. The set of three was the price of ONE car! Detail is excellent, lovely fine handrails and finely etched walkways. Also have shelf couplers - didn't know these were available, or maybe done specially for Athearn.
I hit the Oklahoma City train show this weekend and came home with some goodies. An Athearn CF 7 in WATCO Holding livery and a couple of Accurail ACF Hoppers in SF, different road numbers. The NLG and Rock boxcars were bought off eBay at a very good price. I had a fun weekend looking at layouts, trains and catching up with some friends. Topped off with taking the kids and grands on the Polar Express Christmas train at Stillwater Ok on Saturday evening. It's the start off Christmas train set season guys, we need to start posting pictures of our set ups!
Since Athearn owns the McJunky Coupler line, I would replace these shelf couplers with Kadee Shelf Couplers for more reliable coupling and staying coupled than the McJunky couplers. Rick Jesionowski
I managed to pickup a pair of Proto PA1's for the Wabash recently, so I have some power for the Bluebird Passenger cars that I reserved from BLI! Here is one of the two! Rick Jesionowski
Actually Kaydee makes them. I am slowly putting them on all my tank cars. I'll have to look up the number. The one drawback is you can't uncouple them with the five-finger Sky crane as easily as the number 5's. But they do look nice.
