Gerd, These are again nice looking shells! Is that a SP unit up front? What is the reason to install the stacks after painting?
Yes, correct, 1 SP, 1 CSX ans 1 BNSF. The stacks are not the same colour as the shell anyway and another reason is my new lathe is still with the dealer
Don, search in youtube for sw1000 z-scale and you will find two videos of my SW1000. The chassis is chopped similar as David and Gerd did. The SW1000 chassis is just slightly shorter
Revamped MP15DC This is an major update to my first MP15DC prototype. The loco was originally powered with a heavily modified MTL GP35 chassis. Apart from the fact it was a risky task with lots of milling, filing and removing the flywheels from the ceramic motor shafts, the MTL chassis are not available for years and 2nd hand units rare and expensive. The new chassis now is powered by the internal bits and trucks of Rokuhan Z Shorty, paired with a custom brass chassis by The Z-Maker aka Rudy Valle. So the chassis is more reliable and smooth running is ensured, even one truck only is powered, but the wheels have traction tires. In addition I installed bi-directional LED lights and the new Rokuhan DCC decoder. That means I have re-opened the "production line" can can offer MP15DC and AC again. BTW: the loco has been weathered, too
