Proudly presenting this addition to my line: EMD MP15DC This modern switcher was on many wish lists; disregarded from all manufactures; now reality. The shell is made from 0.25mm nickel-silver etched parts, chassis is a heavily modified MTL GP9/GP35 mechanism. The loco will be available in a couple of month on special order. Many railroads are possible, also high or no air filter box. Please enjoy! BTW: on show is a non weathered unit
Very well done! Whats equally amazing as the quality of the work you do, is the volume of work you do. Any more details on the chassis mods that you would like to share? Are both trucks powered? Do both trucks pick up power? Can we see the mechanism?
It's exactly the same modification as David K. Smith did some years ago: flywheels removed, bit sawing, bit milling and screwed back together. Power pick up and traction like a original GP9/GP35. I will make some pix on the WE
gerd, that is outstanding. i've wanted to try making some etchings, but just can't find the right (affordable) program to get to it. are you selling the unassembled etchings? i'd be interested. dave f.
Due to some changes in my professional and private life I have less time to spend on Z. That means standing orders will be fulfilled, but it will take much longer. If somebody wants to cancel orders I'm fine with that and of course in case you have paid a deposit it will be fully refunded.
If my order is near the front of the list, l'm good with extra time. If not you can refund my preorder, your call. I understand how the work backlog can build up quick. I had the same thing happen to me, and only find a couple hours a month of hobby time these days. I have only had a couple weekends off work in the past 18 months so had to give up making kits last year. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Hooray, I can finally retire this dusty old project with a clear conscience. Well done, Gerd, and thank you! Those wishing to see the chassis modification in detail (including photos and a video), please see: http://jamesriverbranch.net/project_28.htm
No, I'm not off to the Virgin Islands! Some slow progress on some MP15DC shells. The guys that have ordered can figure out which one is for them!
