With the N-Scale meet in Salt Lake just two weeks away, thought I would put up a post, see who else from TrainBoard will be in attendance. @Mark Watson and I will be setting up a large FreeMo-N layout, combining Mark's FreeMo-Nebraska with parts of Silicon Valley FreeMo-N. Our preliminary layout plan: A full round-trip will be approximately 12 scale miles. The longest length train that can make it through all three turnarounds will be 2200 sq ft (approx 0.4 scale miles). Significantly longer if one stays out of the bottom branch (or drops freight in the yard). Our plan is to have the layout operational by early Thursday afternoon and it will be open for operations by registered attendees. We will have JMRI with WiThrottle running, so bring your iOS or Android devices (with WiThrottle or EngineDriver installed). The official show is Friday and Saturday. Hope to see you there.
I don't believe I've formerly introduced Free-moNebraska here on Trainboard. For those who haven't picked up the scoop from other sites, here's a preview.
That looks fun - I look forward to seeing you there. Lyn and I cross the pond Sunday! Peter N Scakle Kits www.nscalekits.com

Hi, What are the opening times? I'll be in Salt Lake City for the CVPR (big computer vision conference), but alas will leave Friday evening... Sven
The official hours for the public show on Friday are Noon to 4pm. The layouts are operational starting at 8am (or, whenever we finish breakfast).
Are those slide switches in the yard SparkFun 9609 or Adafruit 805 ? Maybe I'm wrong on both accounts
Jeff, If you are asking about the Nebraska modules yes those are slide switches. I have seen them in person, great modules and the sliders really don't detract, but sure add operating ability Joe
My son and I will be there Friday and Saturday. Probably do the show Friday and maybe look for some railfan spots Saturday
Modules are all set, and I have the trains and most everything else ready to load the minivan up on Monday. My plan for the drive on Tuesday is to make it to Truckee for lunch and a little rail fanning, then onto Winnemucca for the night. An “easy” trip into SLC on Wednesday.
I will not be able to make the N Scale convention again this year. Kansas City was the last one I was able to attend.
Not to worry, you'll have another chance at SLC for the NMRA convention next year. We're planning to have a slightly bigger Free-moN layout then...
Really... 'Just slightly larger'... that is a ginormous monster sized set-up Mark. That is really going to a sight to behold. Can't wait to see it in action... but I doubt I can attend... so do as many videos as possible!
Well, that one is a “concept” plan, as much to get all the different groups to commit as it is to figure out what size we could plan for. It will certainly be fun to run on, if we can pull off even 80% of those modules. Makes the combined layout we had in Portland look small.
