Yep. West Plain for sure. Fiction bearing 6 axle, heavy weight cars... Just grateful someone took pictures. Look at that rail, 115LB rail.
Made a coincidental discovery today. While thumbing through a old issue of Trains from 1959, I happened upon a little piece of correspondence from a reader. I immediately recognized the name. Turns out I am the proud possessor of some of said reader's photographic effort.
Back in timetable & train order days, (which lasted well into the mid-1980's), known as "Plainview". "Plain" is the CTC-ization version of that station name, as is the attachment of "West" and "East".

I'd attempted to at least narrow down the location, knowing that the BAR leased their geeps in the 70s. I know they had a relatively long term arrangement with PC. I don't recall if they rotated the units during the lease agreements, but I'd hedge a guess and say that it's somewhere on the PC system. That's pure speculation however as I don't know all the roads BAR leased locos to in the 70s.

For you Easterners, the roads over yonder aren't as well represented (mostly due to my own personal interests), however, I still did purchase some choice views of early Conrail scenes, which are due to appear later on (probably sometime next year at the rate with which I'm doing them). Looking forward to the eastern shots. I've really enjoyed your entire series of postings since the start. Many of the slides cover an era of my childhood where my interest in trains came into full bloom. I had no car, so my photo venues were often limited to my hometown. Through your collection, I'm finally able to see the many places I could only read about at the time and as they looked at the time. Thank you!
Glad to see that these views are bringing back many a fond memory for you all! I, myself, am way to young to have seen any of this, so I am equally thrilled with them.
