BNSF's executive train is in Augusta, GA for the big annual golf event, along with those from NS and CSX. Not sure about UP, CN and CP.
I don't know, but the temp being -18°F at the time of the derailment, a broken rail is possible. This was the tail of a westbound, so you're seeing unmanned DPUs. The train was traversing the vicinity of a crossover, although I doubt they were using it. This crossover is mainly used to run trains eastbound around other parked trains at what rails around here call the "Minot Wall", as trains rest here wait for Gavin Yard to have room to receive them.
Just east of Saginaw TX on April 16, 2023. Finally got a trio of big SD's like what Kurt Moose is always seeing, just missing that cool NW scenery
....this morning in Auburn Yard, if it wasn't for that subpar GE on the front-this would be a solid EMD consist!!
Amazingly amidst the BNSF's power shortage, 30 -9's are going into storage here. This is on the Sidney branch on sidings laid down for oil field suppliers during the boom's. Currently only a scrapping outfit is using the sidings. None of the stacks are capped, which leads me to assume that scrapping is next, or selling off to be rebuilt for Tier 4 compliance. The uncapped stacks lead at least to turbo damage.
